AI Designer


Arkane Studios is seeking a highly skilled AI Designer who will work with the development team to create, implement, and iterate on AI for NPCs to create a rich game experience for players.


  • Design and drive the creation and systems for AI behaviors and NPC abilities.
  • Work with the rest of the design and AI teams to create systems and NPCs that result in compelling player experiences both in and out of combat.
  • Implement, maintain, and iterate on various systems and NPCs to keep AI behaviors and abilities well-integrated with other areas of the project.
  • Must write and maintain clear and concise documentation for all feature specs, systems, and behaviors they are responsible for.
  • Strong working imagination able to invent compelling behaviors and abilities and the analytical and technical capabilities to prototype/implement them to test them out.
  • Conceive, prototype, schedule, and help implement compelling AI behaviors and abilities.
  • Work to create an engaging gameplay experience in service of the project’s vision and goals.
  • Be proactive in working with the design team and Creative Directors to solicit and act on feedback over the course of the project to help realize its vision.


  • Minimum 3+ years game design experience on a shipped or live product.
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be able to think logically, with a strong focus on attention to detail.
  • Must have familiarity with workflow and best practices for modern engines (Unreal Engine 4, Unity, Etc.).
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
  • Must maintain clear and concise documentation for all systems.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and work well with other disciplines.

Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with scripting, in text or visual forms.
  • Prior experience in technical design.
