Senior Producer

Division: Bethesda Softworks | Department: Production | Location: Rockville , MD, US

The Sr. Producer leads the production of a title and all derivative SKUs to guarantee its delivery against business goals. The Sr. Producer manages with developer and drives the QA and localization efforts. The Sr. Producer assists the Executive Producer with P&L, monitors the project schedule, creates and maintains the project budget, provides design feedback to the developer, tracks milestone progress and drives the milestone review process. The Sr. Producer regularly reports project status to other key stakeholders within the publishing organization to help ensure the product’s commercial success. The Sr. Producer also monitors project risk and works with other members of the studio’s development team to develop and present risk mitigation strategies.

Active phases: Project Greenlight, Product and Developer Selection, Pre-Production through RTM and post-release support

General Duties:

  • Primary project advocate within the publishing organization (with Executive Producer)
  • Serve as the conduit between different functional groups on the project (Development studio, Production, QA and Marketing)
  • Mentor and manage Associate Producers
  • Process Improvement - regularly assess current business practices and make recommendations to increase efficiency and effectiveness
  • Annual staff reviews

Pre-Greenlight Duties:

  • Create production budget
  • Assist EP with RFP process
  • Work with Developer, EP and TD to develop criteria for a functional prototype
  • Work with developer to create schedule, milestones, and overall plan
  • Work with legal department to draft developer and contractor agreements
  • Provide risk assessments for project proposals to key stakeholders within publishing organization, with proposed solutions
  • Assist EP with ongoing P&L analysis
  • Work with EP to create appropriate staffing chart

Post-Greenlight Duties:

  • Drive all phases of product development to ensure the timely delivery of a quality product within budget
  • Track developer's progress and address any deficiencies as needed
  • Provide regular design and production feedback. Identify risks and provide solutions for managing them
  • Guide developer through first-party submission process
  • Manage external contractors and vendor relationships
  • Drive the QA & localization efforts for the title
  • Work with developer and EP to set and manage expectations for milestone deliverable
  • Drive milestone reviews
  • Present milestones to other key stakeholders in publishing organization
  • Assist Marketing and PR with the development of marketing and PR plans
  • Regularly maintain and update production budget
  • Coordinate the development of test plans with QA
  • Assist EP with P&L analysis
  • Work with Marketing, PR and developer to generate plans for press demos and supporting press materials

Qualifications:

  • At least 2 shipped product in a Producer or Senior Producer on current or previous generation platforms
  • College degree or equivalent work experience
  • End-to-end knowledge of game development process, pipelines and technology
  • Comprehensive knowledge of RPG/Action/Adventure/Shooter product genres
  • Must have a finger on the pulse of the video game business; know where it is and where it is going
  • Strong creative and organizational leadership skills
  • Exceptional communication skills
